The Browser settings determine how the internal browser launched from SiteKiosk behaves and what options are available on the internet pages displayed in it.

Certificate

If the displayed websites do not have a valid certification (e.g. often internal pages), the browser does not display an error message if the checkbox is activated and allows the page to be visited.

Browser User Agent

The user agent sent to the web server is controlled with the following drop-down menu.

  • Do not modify anything and use the default user agent ensures that the user agent of the internally used Chromium browser engine is sent.
  • Append SiteKiosk and the version to the user agent adds the information to the standard user agent.
  • With the third option Replace the user agent completely with a custom one, an input field is shown where a custom definition can be entered.

Media

Activating the checkbox allows websites to use the cameras and microphones that may be installed on the client.

Forbidden Internet addresses / Permitted Internet addresses

In this setting, Internet addresses can be defined as URL patterns that are to be explicitly blocked or allowed. All blocked URLs are not accessible, instead a message text is displayed.

The Add URL button opens a dialog box. The URL consists of two parts. The first part includes the protocol (https, http, file, ftp and all(*)). The second part defines the address as free text. In the actions column a pattern in the list can be edited (pen) or deleted (trash can).

As of SiteKiosk Client version 1.4, these filters can be prioritized according to their order in the list. The higher the URL is in the list, the more importance it has.

Access to other Internet addresses

The behavior for Internet addresses that are neither explicitly forbidden nor allowed are defined here. They can be either allowed or blocked.

URLs with SiteKiosk Object Model Permission

If you want to use the SiteKiosk Object Model (advanced), you have to specify the URLs here for security reasons.
