Screen reader

Here you can choose which screen reader the client should use. We support multiple screen readers. Since the SiteKiosk screen reader is included with the installation of SiteKiosk, we recommend using it.

You can choose if the screen reader can be activated by keyboard shortcuts and when using an external device like a keyboard or a Storm interface device what actions the keys should do.

Accessible keyboards like the Storm Interfaces have keys for Up/Down and Back/Next. Up/down always navigates between elements, while you can choose with the presets what Back/Next does.
You can choose between navigating interactive elements, headings or landmarks.
Be aware that headings and landmarks do not exist in content created with our editor but external websites can have them defined. If you need to define headings/sections in our editor, contact us.

When using the SiteKiosk Reader on Windows, it is advisable to rename the desired audio output to "ScreenReaderPlaybackDevice". This will enable the screen reader to automatically switch to this audio output at startup, if possible.

Introduction text

When the screen reader is activated on the client, the introduction text is read out loud. This text can be used to inform the user about the purpose of your project and how to navigate it.

Accessibility menu

The accessibility menu is a floating button that allows users to access various accessibility features such as screen reader support, color filters, screen magnification, and more.
